Tamara Bowman
Owner & Creative Director / Queen ‘B’
Tamara is known for her ability to bring interior spaces to life, and maybe slightly for her love for fashion, her hectic social life/leisure travel schedule, and even for her love for wine. However, her true passion is helping people live their best life. Growing up in the commercial construction world in an entrepreneurial family, Tamara came by her keen interest for business honestly. Some of her favourite memories were hanging around the family office, visiting job sites, and taking a swing on the wrecking ball of the crane.
After completing her Interior Design education, she grew her career through hands on learning of the trade by building homes, working for retailers in the industry, and building her business one client at a time. In 2011 she opened Metric Design providing interior design/decorating, product supply, right through to managed construction for commercial and residential clients. Metric’s unique offering has brought in numerous awards including the Sabex “New Business Venture” award, within the first year of opening. Over the years the business has evolved and shifted as it should but most importantly, has always stayed true to Tamara’s vision.
Tamara believes in surging creativity into every design. “To me, brilliant design comes when capturing the essence of a client and injecting it into a space. It’s like a canvas of the individual that we are designing for. Whether it’s a business, young family, or empty nesters, the design should be a careful reflection of them. I have always loved eclectic design because it is interesting, just like the people that we design for. People come to Metric knowing that in the end, they were a part of the creation.”
On the family side, The Bowman’s are known for getting involved. From community fundraisers and numerous charities and clubs, countless hours are dedicated to helping out. Tamara’s Husband Cary Bowman, also of an entrepreneurial spirit, co-founded and opened the unstoppable Lucky Bastard Distillery @lbdistillers in Saskatoon. Together they have two teenage children, who as like-minded entrepreneurs, started a company by making a prototype for custom wooden paddle-ball sets, which can now be found in local sporting good stores and on Amazon! @caprifrescobol.
